you dont need to use 4hi period... Even on the flat track (5-6" of disced wet dirt) i dont run 4hi.... besides with 35's and 4.11's or what ever you go with you will most likely never run out of gears.

Just punched in some number's...

My crawl ratio is 10:1 and in third gear turning 6000 RPM on my 38's im turning 67.8 mph

then punched in if your running 4.11's your crawl ratio would be about 8:1 and not knowing how hard you will turn it i punched it in at 5500 RPM and 35's in 4lo you be turning about 71.5 but i doubt in a mud bog unless its a drag pit youll ever hit 3rd gear

Or if you have enough power that you're bouncing off the rev limiter in top gear in the pits... which is extremely rare.

my uncles was dynoed well over a 1000 and still runs a gutted case with only low range
