Fall general postings

Let's kick off the fall season here in the NCFTE forum:

First on the agenda:

More participation. As many folks as we have on the roll here we should be having more people chiming in, sharing stories, showing off rides, and offering tips. If there is something I can do to help let me know. That includes constructive criticism about my roll here in the chapter. If y'all think im not doing enough on my part to grow our community then tell me.

Second on the agenda:

Keeping and growing the monthly dinner/get togethers. Doesn't have to be dinner. Car/truck/bike shows, races, community events. We can divide the regions and have mini g2g's if that helps folks get out and meet.

Third and last:

I will continue to come up with ideas to keep our community active. If you have ideas send me a message and let's discuss it. I am currently working on a new game that should be much simplier to play then the last one I created. (Boy did that one bomb)(but I tried and thought it was a fun idea) But this one is all about the trucks/fords and rules are accessible for most everyone. More details soon.

Y'all have a good week.

No better way to kick off fall then with some black powder.

I scored this over the weekend. Still getting details as I go through it. But this is what I know so far:

Its a 1863 remington zouave replica hunter. Made sometime in the 1980's. 58cal with 148 twist in the barrel. Shoots ***** or conical ammo. Has been hunted with. In really good shape. Came with a ton of accessories and about 40 rounds of various ammo. Still trying to determine manufacturer. I think its a zoli. Made in italy. Need to remove barrel to see if there is more info stamped on it under the wood. Planning to shoot this thing this weekend to get my ball/charge/ caps dialed in at 50 yards. 58cal should pack a punch. Ill keep y'all posted.

Very nice score James.
I've never shot any black powder so my question is, do they kick back as much as a non black powder rifle of the same caliber?

Not officially a chapter member yet, though I have asked/applied/whatever y'all like to call it lol. I'd be up for a monthly meet 'n' greet, and would be willin' to ride for a bit to get there too. I'll be down in Tarborro from Oct 4th-7th, doin' a little camping. Some of y'all may even know why I'll be down there. Anyway, if I can be of any help, just let me know!

Haha heck yeah! That's normally a good one to go to. Me and my family used to go there several times a week. Look forward to meeting you and all the others as well!

Glad to have you in the mix Matt. What's going on in Tarboro? Fill us in.

Also post up some pics of your ride in the "rides" thread when you get a chance.

Re: black powder kick
depends on the load and other factors. A 58cal ball with a hot charge will give a good nudge. But powder type and amount will determine the kick usually.

Hey Lilmatt119, Good to hear someone else kicking into the conversation. Just a couple of months ago we all headed over to High Point for some BBQ. But as long as the weather holds out do you have any places local to you the has some good BBQ to chow down on? NCHeaveymetal and I will ride the tires off of our bikes for good BBQ. Chime in anytime and give us a shout. Welcome to the NC Chapter.

1987 F-150 XLT Lariat. 4.9L, manual 3spd w/OD, HHO Generator (currently being rebuilt due to corrosion), Strobes in all corners and two behind grille, side work lights, under body work lights, Knight Rider bar on top of grille, expanded metal grill built by me, Military Surplus Goodyear Wrangler 36x1250x16.5, manual hubs and t-case. Working on spare tire rack, electric fan conversion, ZF-5 transmission swap, and either regearing/custom portal axles (can't decide which). Also future plans for custom front bumper, running boards/rocker panel protection, roll cage with integrated safari rack and bed canopy, fuel system upgrade, and maybe even a turbo. Also planning on hopefully in next couple years to be growing enough sugar cane to start augmenting fuel with alcohol.
