The lights on the heated/cooling seat display blink when depressed on both the driver and passenger seats. Of course neither seat is working with this function. It's an 08 Expy El Limited btw.

 

Just yesterday my seat heat/cool indicator lights would turn off immediately after they were depressed. I turned the car off and back on, all seemed to be corrected with the reboot. I have no idea what caused it, and I did not look at the manual. The blinking must be an error code of sorts, check the plugs under the seats.

 

In October of 2012 my seats began acting up. My passenger side heat would not work, the light would come on for about 10 seconds then would turn off and never come back. I have read all the online information that is out there, done all the free troubleshooting possible, including pulling fuses, changing filters, and figured that if I really wanted heat I would need to bite the bullet and head to the dealer to have my seats reprogrammed.
About 2 months ago I decided to change out the original 6 year old battery. I put in the biggest Motorcraft one I could find available for this car. The car was probably without a battery for about 1.5 hours. Long enough for any possible voltage to out of the cars system. After the install of the new battery the seats have been working as they should.
Last winter, the original battery had a few starts that where sluggish. After making it through the winter, i decided to change out the original battery prior to having a real failure. I am guessing the battery was weakened and had something to do with the seat heat issues. Maybe the seat computer was doing a self test prior to engine start and seeing a less then optimum voltage, and failing. Just a theory. I will repost if it fails again soon.

 

After working for a month the passenger seat heat fails again after 20 seconds. Maybe I will disconnect the battery again to see if I can get another month out of it.
