Need Torx Bolt Size - E-150 Seat Removal
Rather than get a huge expensive Torx bolt set, does anyone know the sizes of the Torx fittings I need to remove the seat belts and the floor brackets in the E-150 Vans?
I have done a search and I cannot locate this information, I also looked in my manual and it does not list the size.
Your help will be appreciated!!
Sincerely,
Scott

As mentioned, t50 is correct size for the seat brackets. However, I haven't figured out a way to remove the stubborn ones in my 2008 E-350. Either the tool breaks or the bolt head will strip out. I'm thinking of welding a large bolt head to them, but that's a last resort. Anyone have a good idea for these?

jmh, i find that a bit surprising that you're having that much trouble with them on a van so new. you might buy a better quality torx bit made for use with an impact wrench, those are tough as can be.
for those that are already stripped, i would hate welding them, as you're likely to scorch some interior pieces nearby, which of course is a huge fire hazard and a hazard with toxic smoke - burning carpet and more. similar hazards apply trying to grind off the head.
if the heads are really that stripped, you might try pounding in a hex or torx bit a bit larger than should fit and wrenching on that. if that doesn't get you anywhere, at least it opens up enough space for a drill bit to start going in.

They extend through the floor, rusting on the other side makes it difficult to extract them, along with you not getting the bit fully in it, dirt in the heads, I use an awl and shopvac to clean them out, then use a hammer to insure the bit fully goes into the bolt. I did strip a bit or two, the quality tools don't do this, you get what you pay for, and it's difficult to find places selling good/quality tools, parts stores ain't it either.

All great info here! Thank you! So I have the T50, but what is the other size that holds the seat belt onto the bottom of the seat; it is SMALLER.
I'm lucky because Harbor Freight is not more than 20 minutes from my house, so as soon as I get the other size I will make a trip. It would be nice if I could just buy the bits individually and not have to invest in a set. I will definitely see about getting the best quality IMPACT style too.

I'll do it in the damn parking lot and if they snap I'll be back in pretty quickly! LOL. I just want to take a bench seat out! Hopefully this isn't a huge PITA.
Thanks for your advice!!
