2005 6.0 powerstroke

What is the difference between the 2005 and 2006-2007 Powerstrokes? I know they are different than the 2003-2004's and are the ones to own. I was told and read on here that the 6.0 Powerstrokes built after January 2006 are the ones to be looking at. What is the matter with the 2005's? I read somewhere that they had problems but not sure.
I own a 2004 and have driven a 2005, 2006 or 2007 and know there is a difference. Between mine and the others years listed that I drove, I noticed the turbos seemed to respond quicker and seemed to have more power. I would like to sell mine and find a newer one. Any advice would be appreciated.

There is some very good info on that subject in this post https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...ml#post3974497 . You can also find a wealth of information in the tech folder. Hope this helps.

I think it would be a mistake to take any of these 'rules' as having too much reality. Sure, there are differences, but to pass up a good deal on a 2005 because 'I heard' to stay away from them wouldn't make sense. There is no 6.0L that has no problems to worry about, and none of them are so bad you should "stay away from them". They just have different sets of problems is all.

Add to what Idahoser mentioned up top..... you may also find a 2005 that has had the Ford updated parts installed (STC Fitting, Stand-pipes & Dummy Plugs, Turbo Oil Drain Tube, Blue Spring Upgrade, Turbo Oil Feed Line etc...). My pickup is a 2005 and most of this stuff was covered under warranty and replaced/upgraded. It's a used vehicle and as such, you have to do your due diligence when buying. Not to mention..... nobody is going to look after there truck "exactly" the same as you do but you can find some really well looked after trucks out there! Just not mine..... cuz I'm keeping it!!!
