92 f350 banks turbo install

Hello all! i am kind of a new user in the diesel section over here. i joined a while back to get some info on a highboy i owned and well lets just say i posted three posts and never looked back. well that is until google showed me the light! your idi section is by far the best for performance and performance help, where as the other site i frequent well i dont know maybe im being shuned... oh well ill start another thread about my turbo install here and see if i get any help, if not ill be back to lurking for info and learning by trial and error like most of my life...lol

well to the meat! i have a 92 f350 cc lb dually 2wd e4od, i have a pre sidewinder banks turbo kit that came off an 88 e350. now after speaking with banks tech rep, i was told that every thing should work except the y pipe and up pipe. they are different part numbers. and for the price of them ill just take it to the local shop after i install everything but the exhaust and let the shop do the rest and proly pay about the same maybe less... and if someone can tell me how to post a link to photo bucket ill make an idi file with all the pics i have a ton and some questions about where the pressure oil line should come from and what a couple things are on the intake side of the turbo.
thanks in advance, hope someone helps me here...

k well i really think im going to try n use that piping kit that came with it first and if that dont work ill pay a local shop to do it. the turbo has no shaft play and looks to be in good shape. ill keep it instead of risk selling it and buying a turbo that needs rebuilt. as for pics then

turbo on the van engine, turbo hat, gp relay relocation and if you look you can see the fuel filter is on the drivers side not pass, and the oil dipstick comes way up and around.

anyone know what that is? what it does? or where it attaches to?

ok fixed the links, i changed the folder they were in after i posted them, so they quit working.

oil comes from the side of the block...off the top of my head im not sure what plug it is, but if you look at the side of the block you should be able see a plug missing.

bottom picture goes on front of IP gear cover...

its used to let the crankcase gasses out...that big hose goes to the CDR (crankcase depression regulator) and then into the intake for the engine to burn. oil supply should be on the drivers side IIRC...idk ive never had a banks kit, but should be over there

wow thanks again! your a wealth of info! i think i might try and set it on the truck tomorrow now that i have an idea of where everything goes... if its not raining, again... ill be sure to take plenty of pics... i love the ol ladys nikon!!!!

oh and one more question for you, should i use the remaned ip and injectors that were pushing the engine that had the turbo? i mean the engine i was told ran but was dropped when he got it and crushed the oil pan and some other stuff. but the injection should be all good and looks to be in good shape. i just replaced my injectors and ip a month and a half or so ago after the sheid diesel after party, when i hooked up to another idi and got pulled like a little girl..... to my ol gals defense, the injectors were in poor shape, and by poor shape i mean really bad... lol the ones i pulled out of the local pick a part looked alot better, and after some seafoam idle and run great! i got the ip and injectors for 20 bucks! oh i found the turbo kit after i got pulled so maybe it wont happen next year if i find that guy again...lol

the big thing is that the exhaust manifolds are different (or at least the driverside is) so idk how will make the crossover/uppipe work without cutting and welding...everything else should be pretty straight forwards

hummm i dont like the idea of unbolting my exhaust and finding out that its off by a little, maybe i could cut off the stock piece off the y and attach it to the y pipe for the turbo, i dont mind cutting and welding a little, but if it comes to bending pipes and all that i proly will just take it to a shop, i have a little cash to play with, if it means the turbo will be on my truck... i wanna be boosted so bad i can hear the turbo already...

Ok so back with an update. GP relay moved.
http://i978.photobucket.com/albums/a...I/DSC_0407.jpg

next is getting this CDR out of the way, and the block off plate on.
http://i978.photobucket.com/albums/a...I/DSC_0408.jpg
Ive been pulling on it (yes its unbolted) and am afraid to break something. the turbo has a stem that runs down to it and there is a pipe and oring thats i pulled off the other engine for the turbo to drain into the port where the gasses came from... should i be scared to break the tube? does is come up with enough fiddling?
oh and some pics of my "baby banks" turbo

Nice! Although I wouldn't choose 3" for your up pipe. Iirc velocity is more important than volume pre-turbo. 3" downpipe would be great!

i guess that makes sense. ill use the stock banks size and just cut and weld the banks pipes until they work...and it turns out that there is a rubber mat on the firewall. so that should make fitment easier. i was really worried for a min. and if i double wrap the pipes i shouldnt have to worry about melting anything. man its getting so close... i cant frickin wait!
