Utah emissions and waiver

Hi guys. I've posted about my emissions tests on the main 73-79 board but thought I'd drop in here and see if anyone is experienced in getting a waiver in Utah.
Has anyone done this? How big a hassle is it?

Thanks

I was unaware that there were any waivers in Utah.
I know that the restrictions are lighter when you get a "Antique Vehicle" status, but the only way I know of is to avoid emissions is get a vehicle made before 1969.

I could be wrong, unless things have changed, but I thought the cut off date was 1967.

I've had a little experience with this. Its HARD as hell to get a waiver for emissions. I went thru it last time I registered my truck. After you fail the test 3 times, you have to take it to the emissions center in Murray, They will inspect the vehicle, and tell you weather it can be fixed or not. If it has to do with a carb, I'd recommend taking it to Kelly over at CarbMasters, in West Jordan. He got mine to pass.

Hi guys sorry I haven't got back to you on this. In Utah you have to spend at least $100 to get it to pass after failing the first test. I did...plugs, wires, etc. Off to Murray....he said to rebuild the carb and come back to have it tested. I did and it didnt. Hydrocarbons just over....So they gave me a 1 yr waiver. In a couple months Ill have to do it all over again.
