Turn over Flathead by hand

I have a '51 Ford F1 that has not been started since 1975...I'm trying to start it just to see if it will start before I rebuild it...I've soaked the cylinders with oil twice...what is the best way to turn it over by hand. It's tore down to the engine and cab, so getting to everything is pretty easy. I did try bumping the starter, but it just spins and won't engage. Any help would be appreciated! It's my first project like this, the truck belonged to my grandfather, he bought it new in 1951 and it's been in the family ever since. Thanks!!

Get a socket that fits the crankshaft bolt, use a breaker bar, and try turning it clock wise. If it don't turn, don't force it, remove the heads and check for cracks between the valves and cyl's. It may have stuck valves too.
