ToolBox Coating.....

Has anyone had their diamond plate aluminum truck toolbox (outside only) sprayed with Rhino lining or Line-X?

How did it hold up?

I know they sell new ones that are coated, but I haven't heard of anyone coating a used box. I really like the look though.

Good question - I am considering buying a Diamondback Tonneau cover and having it Linexed to match the color of my truck. I am however concerned that the Linex coating will interfear with the operation of the Diamondback cover.

LINE-X does not interfere. As a matter of fact, you can order a Diamondback cover already coated with black LINE-X Premium direct from Diamondback. If you want it color matched, a LINE-X dealer will have to apply it.

Lots of people have bedliner products applied to toolboxes.

I like - thanks for the pics. Before my truck comes in I'll check this out with the Line=X dealer in town.

You can just use spray on bedliner like Herculiner. Just prep the surface really well.

Yes, you can. However, black Herculiner specifically is not UV stable and will turn dull and gray in a few months.

Line-X will work great. I wouldn't paint it with regular paint though. Dad bought his toolbox off CL and the guy just used spray paint. Its all peeling away now.

Peeling paint can be caused by many things, of which poor prep is the most common cause.

Well there is time to learn all about color matching the tonneau cover. My new F250 is not even in line for buildup. I have at least a month to figure it out.
