Beautiful days of summer!

Must be the great weather! This is the first time that this little part of FTE has gone thru a twenty four hour period without someone posting!
Enjoy the Fridges folks!

well i for one have been busy. work and working on the big red bottomless money pit. my daily driver pos grand prix has a problem i have to pay someone to fix because i cant talk to the cars computer. so the 60 got put into daily use. i seen this coming so i put in the new intake gaskets to fix the exhaust leak. i should have figured that out years ago! also got the hood springs tightened up. new carb is working good now that the rear float is unstuck. had the day off so after i dropped of the pos dd at the repair shop, my friend "aka" ride home, stopped and loaded a 66 chivy half ton 4x4 he bought and then swung out to a you-pull-it lot. found some good stuff, really clean oil bath for a 292, fridge fan switch, horn button, magic air controls, 292 radiator, and would you believe a 60 year old bank key chain from my small local town. got a door lock and some bits for my 66 galaxie. thinking about going back for the doors but i cant recall what kind of shape they are in. will probably stop back when the pos car is done. probably wont have any money after the repair but i will look anyway. plus, it was about 100 degrees today and my buddy bought 6 wheels that we got to break down with a manual tire machine. the day was great till then, it got bad in a hurry. im getting ready to look in the manual to see if i can figure out how to wire that new fan switch, if i cant find it im gonna need some help. my 60s' fan is on a toggle switch.

i dont know if the rad is good but it looks pretty good. it doesnt look like it has ever had any damage. if i ever need it im sure its gonna have to be checked out and tested but that will be cheaper than a new one. now it needs a valve adjustment and alignment. that stuff will wait for a rainy day...............and some extra cash in my wallet

nubee needs help

I would like to join your conversation and maybe ask a few questions of my own if you have the time. I'm new at this so it's both intimidating and confusing. If I'm interupting---please excuse me

Do you need front end over haul or what? Spindle bearings? Steering linkage, steering gear? You can set the toe-in yourself. I believe it it 1/16th". Did you get your daily driver back yet from the car magician?

welcome fine 59, once you get the hang of this site its not so bad. ask a kid to show you around on here if that helps. thats what i did. at the top of the threads or posts you will also see the classified section. click on that if you need parts or just ask for them.

spur, thanks for asking about the dd pos. turns out the mass air flow sensor is shot so they are gonna replace that and see if there is anything else going wrong. i hate to throw good money after bad so thats why they got the work. i could spend a pile of money putting on new parts just to chase the problem. mass air flow is $150 so at that price i cant "try" to many parts. on the 60, its a 4x4 so its a little more involved than just the toe. when i get the money im gonna throw on my new to me 19.5 bias traction tires and have the front end tuned up. caster, camber, toe, tighten the wheel bearings, tighten the steering box and whatever else they think it will need. its a factory closed knuckle dana 44 so im not gonna try to much shade tree stuff with it. its also steering 38.5 super swamper boggers and it needs to be right. the 19.5s will be installed so they hopefully can get it as close as they can.
