New Member and looking for machine shop

Hi all,

I'm a new member living in Asheville. I recently picked up a 76 F150 (390 4V/C6) at a pretty good price. Minor rust other than tailgate and one tiny hole in the driver's side floor pan. Anyway, the PO has paperwork from having a compression test done (no details) and the shop recommended a valve job. Plans for the truck are mostly home depot/lowes/dump runs, but I'm contemplating restoring it at my leisure as well since it's in such great shape. Can anyone recommend a good machine shop/engine builder in the area? I've been here a little over a year, but this is my first old Ford in 16 years. My first car was a 63 Galaxy 500 XL (also with a 390 4V). All of my recent experience has been with Subarus so I'm a little out of my element with finding a good shop that can do major work on my F150. I'm quite mechanically inclined and have the shop manuals, but we have no garage and our driveway is gravel so pulling an engine or tranny and working on it here is mostly out of the question for now.

Thanks,
Chris

Sorry Chris, can't help you on that but I hope the restoration goes well. If you can, post some pics on the "what kind of ford do you have" thread.

Hey Chris. Welcome to the fray. Sounds like a well taken care of farm truck that's ready to be spruced up. Hope it goes well. Ill ask one of my friends that has ties in asheville about a shop in the area.

Like fuzzy said, post up some pics in the other thread.

Take care.
