'84 f150 carb tag
Hi all,
My '84 f150 4.9L six is in need of a carb kit and some other carb parts. The problem is, someone has been in there before me, and removed the carb ID tag and didn't put it back! Is there a way to determine the numbers that were on the tag from the VIN or other information? It is an electronic feedback 1 bbl that looks to be a Carter.

Without the tag, you will have to use the Carter and/or Weber stamping number.
You should be able to find the number stamped to the lip of throttle body on the driver side of the carb, right where it bolts to the intake.
It will have a four digit number and/or with a letter, something like 7329 or 7843S.
Post that number and I'll see what I can find.

First off, let me welcome you to the forum.
Someone will come along with more information soon.
I should also ask if you could post some pictures so we can better identify your issue.
But first, let me ask you a couple of questions, so that we can narrow it down a little further.
Does your carburetor look like this;
And do you have a gray module on your distributor like this one does;

Thank you so much! I have been trying to find this information since I overhauled the engine 20,000 miles ago! I put a kit in at that time that was a guess, and it was close but not the right one. The truck runs well, but never had the power it should after a .040 overbore rebuild. Thanks again! I owe you one!

When one drives the oversized tub that I do...that...so far has averaged 14.8 MPG overall (according to the onboard computer), one stops at a lotta gas stations.
My three previous 2004/2005/2006 NotaFord and 2004 F150 Lariat Stupor Crew pickups got about the same MPG as the current oversized tub.
Didn't have to stop as much w/the 2008 conFusion 4 banger (traded it in on current oversized tub), as it got better MPG.
I usually don't bother checking MPG, because who in their right mind would buy a full sized pickup and then expect to get decent MPG?
The only times I've bothered over the past 50 years: Gassed up the 2006 Titan, then drove to San Diego and back, filled it up when I returned: 18.6 MPG. This had to do w/a poll on titantalk.com
Was curious inre to the 2008 conFusion, did the same thing, same San Diego trip: 33 MPG. Ditsy MIL lives there.

Thanks much for the info NumberDummy! Is the tag ID E4TF-FA, or E4TE-FA?
