Show me your rear bumper
I'm at the stage where the shape and style of rear bumper needs to be determined. My old bumper was a very beefy step bumper that was damaged and repaired several times with too many wrinkles to deal with. I'm not sure which way I'll go chrome or painted, my front is painted and straight, however I'm considering a chrome one up front.
The chrome rear style that is sold by most venders looks nice but the way the ends are it looks at odds with the shape of the rear body, where the ends of the bumper look wider at the bottoms. Has anybody modified or flipped this style bumper.
I'm also considering fabricating one. With my limited cutting and welding skills.
Any/all pictures and or sketches are appreciated.

Keep em coming! I don't usually have a hard time making decisions but with this back bumper its still up in the air.
Not sure if the clean street look like Walston or the bump anything drag everything look of GB Sissons is my choice. I'll probably build something in the middle like Colin has. I do want it to set high and snug to the body with the 2" receiver hitch either in the bumper or hidden behind the license plate. (I think)

This is my rear bumper, it came with the truck many years ago. At first I wasn´t sure to keep it but then I loved it more and more.
A bit on the dark side but also a clean look. There is a trailer hitch hidden behind it, just unscrew 4 bolts and the bumper comes off.
@ Walston : that´s a very nice rear bumper ! If I were to change mine for some reason I would love to find one like yours. Nice back up lights also - well, nice truck at all !

Thank you, Wally ....
Well, 20 years ago there were very few but meanwhile more fridges are coming across the ocean. A quick check on a online marketplace showed
me 5 (!) fridges for sale .... not too bad.
Looks like a result of the rising interest in the US for the 57-60 effies, except the sometimes "ugly trucklin`" image. They are just part of the exotic classic american cars to gaze at.

Ford didn't offer step bumpers until 1967. But, gazillions of aftermarket bumper companies did. All step bumpers have a hole for a trailer hitch ball. Farmers more likely to install step bumpers.
The Styleside contoured bumpers were somewhat scarce, because many people didn't want them. 'Course if you want one, you have other choices besides 1957/60:
If you look for certain 1961/66 Stylesides, you might luck out for a user / 1961/63 "Uni's" use the same bumper / Many 1961/66's came with 1957/60 Styleside Beds.
B7C-17906-D .. Styleside Chrome Contoured Rear Bumper / Reproduced
Applications: 1957/60 F100/350 / 1961/63 F100/250 "Uni" / 1961/65 F100/250 4WD (1957/60 bed) / 1961/66 F350 (1957/60 bed) / 1962/63 F100/250 2WD (not a Uni - 1957/60 bed) / 1966 F250 4WD (1957/60 bed).
No 1957/60 Styleside Beds: 1964/66 F100/250 2WD & 1966 F100 4WD ~ C4TZ-17906-B Chrome Contoured Rear Bumper-dished inwards at the center for the license plate. Mounts directly to bumper.

Sorry to warm up this older thread, Wally ... but how did you end up with your bumpers ? Seems my front and rear bumper became lost by havin´them rechromed
I´ve seen the repro stuff and I´m uncertain about the rear one. Some pics show the spare for the license plate on the back panel upwards and some downwards. Is the contour suitable to flip the rear bumper ?
Now that my bumpers are gone this is maybe the chance to go a different way. Did anybody went to the dark side and found a totally different style to create a unique look ?
Thanks for any input, Tom

Thats too bad yours were lost.
To me if you could flip the rear bumper and then flip the just the center section to retain the shape around the license plate. It would then fit the over all shape of the rear of the truck.
I like the idea of this bumpers center portion allowing the tail gate to drop straight down for better access to the bed. but with some rubber bumpers to keep the gate from whacking the tow ball plate.
So I'm still in the research and contemplation stage (where I waste most of my time)
Well I tried to add Damnedifikows picture but it didn't work so see picture in last post LOL
