2003 F350 Instrument Cluster failure
Truck batteries were drained the other day. The truck was jumped wth 24 volts. It started up and was disconnected immediately. Truck surged three times while warming up and then died.
It was later started up with sets of jumper cables.
The results of the 24 volt jumping caused the following:
Power windows will not work.
Interior lights will not turn on.
Radio does not work.
All gauges are dead, but my ABS light still comes on and it now "check gauges" light is shining very dimly.
The truck is completely fine outside of this.
All fuses inside the truck are fine. One main fuse was blown and was replaced.
I am being told that this all has to do with the power source that keeps these items all on after the truck is turned off. Which means that the instrument cluster is having a problem. Does anyone have an idea what might need to be replaced?
Thanks

The instrument cluster on your vehicle is not repairable. It can only be replaced by the dealer as it must be programmed to your vehicle. My dealer quoted $1,100 to replace mine, however it turned out I didn't need one, it was my VSM. The VSM works with the instrument cluster and be aware that it may be damaged as well.
FYI the part that keeps the accessories on after the key is turned off is the accessory delay, which is integrated with the instrument cluster on 2002 up.
