75 Ranchero Shifting at 30 mph (HELP)

Hey its Phil i got a issue with my ranchero shifting at 30 mph it use to shift at 20 wtf is going on!

this is why i don't like mechanics touching my truck.....

It started shifting at 30 after he changed the carb and he bent my throttle bracket and i had to bend it back for the gas peddle to sit where its suppose to.....

this is some BS...

There is a bent rod that goes from the carb to the trans to tell it how hard you are pressing on the throttle. It's called the TP rod I think (TP stands for Throttle Pressure). Sounds like it needs to be adjusted.

I am getting ready to check out the vaccum modulator asap, Just got done with reinstalling the original rocker arm and push rod with the addition of a new rocker arm bolt. I also cleaned the passengers side cylinder head with some bardhal motor/tranny flush.... man she is so silent in her valve cover not even a bug can hear it..... XD

When that flush stuff came out.... my oil looked like bubbly watered down tar. It was 5quart when it first went in by time it came out it had gotten so thin that it was 3 quarts in the jug i dumped it into.

New spark plugs set to 0.44 spec... the prior spark plugs that where put in where gapped wrong by my friend ..... they where set to 0.39... i made those mistakes before too kind of funny.

I got to jack her up and find that modulator now.

[quote=85e150six4mtod;12032138]Remember the mission here is to confirm the modulator is connected via vacuum line to the carb. Don't pull the modulator off the trans just yet.[/quote

it should be a small line but i got to fallow it up the engine, Thats the only way i will know what i am doing... i think its just hooked up wrong.... I like to trace things down.

thats how i learned my wiring system in my ranchero since i cannot read a diagram
