So here is the long story. Wife told me her 02 Explorer made a funny noise. My first question was, how long, 2 days, 2 weeks or 2 months, duh was the answer. So I start looking around and spot upper ball joints and one tie-rod end the boots are shot. Never had 20 sheets of drywall or towed any trailer, so at 87k I am a bit peeved they failed, completely garage kept. Replaced them all last week. I never did like the so called sealed units. So I replaced them all with Moog and all have grease fiittings.
So my queston is. Is there a product to coat the exterior of my 07 EL Limited ball joints that also have the sealed units to prevent the boots from failing, I suspect severe weather in northern Illinois with lots of salt caused the boots to fail? Maybe some silicone, or a coating of bearing grease?? Any thoughts???
