I'm not sure on the size of the ldt465 as it's new to me, but in comparison a 6BT Cummins is a tight fit height and length wise, but has been done. The ldt465 seems to weigh about a whole lot at ~1650#s, a rather large Cummins weighs 1000. It doesn't look any different that a Cummins in the pictures I've seen, so I imagine it's quite a bit bigger all the way around, which makes me think it might be pushing the limits of what can be done and still be useable. If it's much longer than a Cummins you would have to loose some foot room in the cab, and that can mean having the gas pedal at a really uncomfortable place to use daily.
It does seem you can get better mpg and power out of a newer diesel, but the mulitfuel is pretty awesome.
I'm currently looking into diesel engines for my truck, and people have put them in '56s, but I think that diesel might be way too big and require a whole lot of cutting and welding.

Unless you have some experience with them and a special love for them...why bother with such an oddball?

I remember someone saying mean things about them, don't know why....

vs. 40" for the Cummins:

There ain't much foot room in those to begin with, and I don't think you want it sticking out the front....you could put a propeller on it I suppose...

Yeah, you're talking about a 1600lb engine that is only capable of about 200HP on a good day!!
I might go for a well built 300 cu-in inline 6 over that!
