A little off topic but not to much, anyone know where I can get a new pump?

I see Rockauto has 'em for 376$ CAD with 225$ core. I guess that's a good price?

Penicola has them $345.oo no core. I haven't put mine in yet so can't tell you how good they are. Hector the injector will rebuild for $245.oo that's plus shipping. I just couldn't get a hold of him.

According to "Hector with Injectors" contact us at 602-595-0706 between 9am-2pm, MST and the email address is dieselinjectionservices@***.net. His prices are 245 for rebuild service of your IP and 293 - 345 for rebuilt replacement. He is difficult to get a hold of, but nothing negative said on ebay about his IPs.

I will let you know once mine is installed, how it goes..

This is a pretty good article. I read over it a few times before starting my IP swap.

I noticed in repair manuals it talks about special tools, i.e. injection pump wrench and injection pump gear tool...

I don't think you need them except maybe a bent wrench for the lower bolts.

Update on the injection pump saga, to refresh, I ordered a rebuilt injection pump from "hector with injectors" out of AZ and finally found someone to work on the ole girl. I am posting this to report that my truck is back on the road from Diesel Doctor and found a great diesel/gas truck shop in Henderson, NV (close to SE Las Vegas), Diesel Doctor 702-570-7577. They are great mechanics, R&R injection pumps and even fixed stuff the previous owner rigged up.

Glad to here you got it done. What was the cost on R&R of the pump install? Just kind of curious.

Quoted me 400, and actually charged 315. I had a little trouble with it after they R&R the injection pump, it stalled out and had it towed back to the shop. They found a electric fuel pump on the fuel line, under the truck which had faulty wiring and fixed the wiring under the hood.

Injection Pump Failure

After almost a week of driving my truck around town, the injection pump from "Hector with Injectors" of AZ and on ebay, failed. And the best part about it they never answer the phone and charged me twice... So, anyone out there looking for a rebuilt injection pump, be cautious and do your homework, best advice would be look for a local shop that can rebuilt... I am still dealing with the credit card co. to get my second charge refunded... And now I am in the same situation as before, but with two failed injection pumps...

Have both charges refunded. Tell the credit card company there was a one year guarantee period. I think the credit card company dose it any way. Did you take it back to the installer and see what he says. He must know how or someone that rebuilds.

I pulled mine apart to replace the seals. The job is possible with better than average tools and a substantial amount of mechanical experience.

A couple of things to remember about this IP:

1. check valves at the outlet of the pump can leak back into the IP and effect your injector timing timing.

2. there is a very fine screen at the IP fuel inlet that can get clogged if filter maintenance is not regular.

3. I have some photos of the exploded view in my pictures which will help you understand the process or aid you in diagnosing your problem.

Good luck.
