2008 6.4L Found 3 Oil Leaks Today

The dealer located 3 oil leaks on the engine today. Upper pan gasket, lower pan gasket, and rear main seal. Job will take 2 complete days to complete.

The good news is, there's 27 days left in the warranty.

How could three seals let go at once?

i just noticed a wet spot under my 2008 today. I crawled under to see more wet spots on engine parts/steering parts. It seems to be a clear oily substance, and looks like it is coming from the lower radiator hose. I looked at the coolant reservoir and looks to be the same as the wet spots. Does this sound about right to anyone?

Wow. Three new seals less than a month before warranty expires. I wouldn't care about how three went out simultaneously, I'd just be greatful.

That is the problem with bed plate design that navistar uses.

Mine is ok.

Mine had an upper bed plate leak too. Thank you for the warranty Ford!!! They took the cab up, motor out and sealed/replaced bed plate.

They don't replace the bedplate itself, just re-seal above and below it. The only way to get to it is to pull the engine (which means pulling the cab) and removing the oil pan and bed plate itself.

The mechanic that did mine was very confident that it would not leak again with the black RTV that was used. It was only a heavy seep, but there was a visible oil trail down to the bottom of the bell housing.

Get it checked out and repaired if you still have a warranty left!

Mine is being done now. The cab was removed first, then motor was removed. Seems to be the only "correct" way to complete the job.
Pretty impressed with the whole procedure being done by the dealer.
Screwy Ford design though.

It's truly designed by International with input/support from Ford engineers I believe.

I just located some wet spots under my truck today. i'm guessing it's either the lower pan gasket or the rear main seal leaking... are these seals covered under the 5/100 power train warranty?

I have a similar leak. Any ideas if this is a bedplate leak or rear main seal. Coming out of rubber pieces one by external Trans filter and the other above the oil pan.

If it is from the motor then it will be covered under the diesel motor warranty. Most likely they will clean it and put some dye in the oil to find the leak.

this type of repair though you can plan it out so you are not without the truck when you need it most.

Mine is doing the same thing. I tow and been driving like that for a year. Its the bed plate likely. Mine is not losing enough oil to even drip on my driveway. No way will i have them cab off and engine out again to fix it unless it gets worse. I once had the front cover leaking oil, they replaced that, that was leaking a nice amount though, left drops everywhere on my driveway.
