Crank key in 302? Same one in a 4.6?

I am building a 302 and bought a crank kit for it but just now noticed it doesn't have the crank key and I don't have one laying around. I do however have a fully assembled 4.6 that's no good. Just looking from the front on the engine it appears the same.

I wanted to check here first to make sure before I tear all that front engine covers, timing stuff, etc. I assume the local parts store doesn't sell just the key.

Thanks,

Gerald

There are "small parts kits" or "headache kits" which for the 302 Ford has 4 new head dowel rings , 2 timing cover dowel rings , crank keys . cam gear dowel pin , misc bolts , and a fuel pump excentric depending on the kit.

The SB Chebby kits are about $10 and the SB Fords are about $20

My attempt to cross reference looked like it would not work but I could be wrong .

Pioneer # 839048 , about $3 .

Should be able to get one at any parts store , mail order , or ebay .

I would suspect the 4.6L crank key is metric dimensions where the 302 since the basic design dates to the early 60s will be English dimensions (inches).
