no more red superduty..

well the time has come. i finally parted ways with what was seemingly my identity; traded in the red truck for something a little lower... and a whoooole lot longer lol.

'04 powerstroke w/ 140k on the clock. needs a few little things but i think i got a smokin' deal on it... overall its a solid unit. first up is an EGR delete, then have a few little rust spots that have started on odd places fixed (next to cab roof light, bottom corner of third brake light, corner of rear side window). 4" exhaust and SCT tuner, '05 painted to match front end w/ OE harley headlights, 3.5" shackles/hangers for the front, 35's on 20's... but not right away haha.

everything happened so fast; last thursday i had no indication i'd be getting rid of my truck soon like i've been planning on, let alone buying a diesel (had my mind settled on a 2wd F150 supercrew to make into a pre-runner style), and monday night i'm driving this home. i've always been leary about the early 6.0's and trans behind them, but i guess i'm taking the gamble.

so. this sumbitch is looooong, lol. michigan turnarounds are a thing of the past unless i can swing wide/swoop in at the last second and not stop in the middle.

it blows my mind to set the cruise on the freeway and not have it shift once on a 50 mile trip. loving the diesel torque. the mileage (compared to my 9-10mpg gasser) has been great too. can't wait to get an exhaust and tune on this thing.

it has some quirks i am still feeling out, but overall so far i am happy i pulled the trigger on it. i've already put a double-DIN dvd headunit in it. now i need to get tint on the glass to try and deter prying eyes.

My truck is ok in the U-Turns except for in Kentwood. It parks in the Uccello's parking lot just perfectly though.

Just be happy you have coil springs in the front, if you had the leafs, the turning sucks just that little bit more..

Nice truck, 4" and a SCT, good combo!!

Yeah well then that sucks. I work out here by the airport - if you've ever seen all the MG's on Patterson that's it. Anyway - I never go down 44th any more, it's way too much of a pain in the ***.

after one day shy of 2 weeks of downtime, i have the oil pan and trans cooler lines replaced (rusted through, pain in the **** to get to), EGR delete kit installed (preventative maintenance), blue spring fuell pressure regulator (why not), new high-amp starter wire connecter (also rusted off..thing is a monster!!), fresh oil and coolant, and full 4" exhaust installed..... we're back on the road. man i missed this thing.

ohhh the 4" bark/whistle!! turbo spools much faster now. love the two-stroke-like power!

Excellent. Now all that's left is to drink beer and stare at it.
