3 Speed Brownie Transmission
Hi everyone! I am looking for a ranch pickup and have been considering the IDI powered Ford. Anyway, found one which has had a Brownie installed. The pickup is in fairly good condition, but I really dont need or want the brownie. I think that I would like to remove and sell it if I do end up with the pickup. Just wondering if anyone woud be interestedin buying or maybe know of a good place to sell it (aside from the classifieds on this site). The pickup is a 1991 F250 5-speed 4X4 ex cab longbed.
Thanks!
Thanks!

If you're using the truck as a ranch truck, why would you not want a super creeper gear?
I'm not sure what you've got, but most aux transmissiopns have an under drive, direct and an overdrive. That combination should make it perfect for a farm truck.

It's an auxilary transmission designed to go betweeen the main trans and the rear axle. It allows you to match engine RPM to load requirements. Especially usful for low HP engines doing major work.

ohh my gosh you have a brownie...you lucky .... i would love to have it... for me its all about stretching out her legs for the blacktop and I burn wvo as well... right now I have timed a 7.3 by ear and I'm pushing 20- 24 mpg ... however if I had a brownie I'm sure I'd push 3 mpg better tops 4 .... my max torgue is @ 1400 at 60 I'm pushing 1950 rpm and I want her down at the 1400 rpm bracket ...run her easy ... just saying it woulld be awesome to incorperate that into my truck

As a matter of fact, I had a 2wd Dodge diesel with a brownie. I really don't know what the double OD did for its fuel economy, as I filled out of the tank at home or with wmo and did not know how much I put in. It did not help that most of the driving was around the place and I did not do too much highway driving. The fella I bought it off of said that he had it to allow him to tow in 4th gear instead of 5th when going down the highway. There must have been some local who installed these things at one time!
Anyway, Im guessing that I will probably end up NOT buying the pickup, but we will see.
