85 300 inline 6 carb help, please!!!
I just bought an 85 F150 with the inline 6 and having trouble with the carb. I have never really messed with a carb before and cannot figure mine out. The guy i bought it from put a remaned carb on it but i dont know if everything is hooked up right. I am assuming its a feedback carb since it has the emissions stuff, here are a few things i noticed may not be right.
Where the gas line goes into the carb, to the right there is a capped off port.
There is something not plugged up on the right of the carb that may have something to do with the feedback i dont know, its 2 black wires coming off the bottom
I will try and upload some pics to help with
any advice on what i should do or maybe where i can get wiring/vacuum diagrams would be appreciated

Yeah, if you can, upload some pictures of the carburetor and the surrounding emissions components.
Also, take a photo of the distributor.
It sounds to me like the classic case of people not knowing what they're messing with.
He probably put a non-feedback carburetor on your computer-controlled carburetor setup. This is very bad, as you can imagine. But, we won't know until we get a look see. He could've just undone a lot of the emissions components, which is bad in itself because it makes the computer start tripping *****, and for the truck to run right you either do a DSII conversion or put everything back the way it was.
The port next to the metal fuel line is an external bowl vent. That runs to the charcoal canister down by the radiator support and battery. The line between the two T's off and runs to a Purge Control Valve at the back of the valve cover, which is hooked to the ported vacuum switch if I remember right, and the other line off the Purge CV goes to the little port on top of the PCV valve. Basically, this setup is called the Evaporative Emissions system, and recycles gas fumes so that they aren't vented to the open air. The engine inhales them and burns them off instead.
On the wiring/vacuum diagrams, your best bet is a factory shop manual (which can be hard to come by, but there are a few on eBay) or a Chiltons repair manual from the auto parts store and the vacuum diagram on the radiator support under the hood.

Pictures for sure would be at the moment the BEST you could give us
You can take a picture of the carb setup, and upload it to photobucket, and then post a link here that directs us to your photobucket page (you might have to create a free photobucket account)
You could in theory upload it up to the thread itself without any links to another site, however if your a regular member like myself, we have a 800x600 pixel limit

I doubt it, too. He's been an FTE member for over 2 years yet has only 15 posts to his name. This tells me he's periodically here only to leech information and get help from the user base and is not likely to contribute anything back to help others.
Actually, one can go see this for themselves... Find one of his posts, left-click his username, select "Find all posts by shaw4825" and you can see all the posts he's made/questions he's asked. No RFID chips needed.

Welcome to FTE.
To start a new thread, go to the first page of the forum in which you wish to post and click the New Thread button on the top-left.
A good forum here on FTE for your engine is the 6-banger forum:
Ford Inline Six, 200, 250, 4.9L / 300 - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums
BTW I don't know of any reason why a new fuel filter would suddenly result in huge leaks, I would guess the body of the carb has been cracked but that's just a guess. Carburetors are made of real soft metal and don't take well to overtightening but there could be other causes, too (e.g. cross-threaded, etc.).

However...I think the usual problem there is an air/vacuum leak, not liquid fuel coming out. Are you sure it's coming from there? Is it possible that when you changed the fuel filter, you cross-threaded it and now fuel is leaking from the threads and running down the front of the carb? I made that exact mistake myself years ago, on my old Comet that used the same (or similar) carburetor. I was able to use some kind of goop (don't remember exactly what...this was 25 years ago) to seal it up and get it back on the road, but ultimately I had to replace the carburetor.
