Truck insurance

Hi all,

at the GTG I remember a conversation about the expense of insuring our trucks.

I have a full no-claims bonus, have my truck insured for 'market price' + $9.6 k in mods. Total yearly premium is $1099.10 which they allow to be paid by monthly DD for no extra charge.

Excess is up to $1050 for declared drivers. Further excess is applied for non-declared drivers which would take the excess to $2300 for a 'non listed driver'.
I'm over 50 with a clean licence.

My cover is via OnePath which is owned by ANZ. see:

Hope this can save some people some dollars.

BTW, I've also been shopping around for home&contents insurance and found better deal, 10% cheaper, through Alliance rather than my previous insurers NRMA and GIO.

BTW, if anyone else wants to post the sort of price and conditions they have on their truck insurance, good or bad, please post it here. We can have good stories and bad ones.

Also the measure of any insurance is when the ***** hits the fan, do they hesitate, delay and penny pinch the whole way through the claim process and make your life a misery, or do they get you sorted out quick and fair. It would be nice to know anyone's experience with F250 insurance in this regard. Saving a few hundred bucks on yearly premiums is no compensation if the insurance company doesn't want to know you when something goes wrong.

It's pretty hard to gather info on the F250 in this country, so if we share this sort of stuff (no personal details or identifying info like rego etc) we might all come out the wiser.

Hi Artie, first post!!!! Woohooo!

I'll give Westfarmers at try next year. Looks like you're onto a good thing there!

The JW valve body is great. The shifts are a lot firmer/grippier. It gives a bit of a lurch going into OD. With the new valve body, filter, gasket, and ATF I shouldn't have to touch the trans again for years. The ATF drip we noticed at the GTG was cured with the new pan gasket.

Regards!

I don't know if they'll do it, but also try Shannon's. A lot of the car shows that I've been to in Canberra, especially the US days, Shannon's have a stand up and indicate that they insure 'enthusiast's' cars. Plenty of enthusiast have imported cars, e.g. there were plenty of NEW Ford Mustangs at the shows.

Thanks, but Shannon online don't do it. They suggest that I call for special vehicle cover, Monday that will happen. As a side note www.redbook.com.au says that my truck is worth 20,000, if only.
