I recently took a 4.6 from a 98 e-150 van and put in a 1997 f 150. put new oil pump, bearings, and rings. got everything hooked up and ready to roll. turn over but no spark to any cyl. any suggestions on what it might be.

 

Could be any of a number of things. Start by making certain all your harness connectors are properly connected.

 

i have checked many times every thing is plugged in and right. replaced crank sensor still nothing.

 

check to see if you have power to your injectors and coils with the key on. If not find out why. Fuse or Fuselink cable?

 

have no power to fuel pump, injectors or coils. have checked fuses cant seem to find any bad ones.

 

Make sure the super fuse on the firewall by the battery is wired correctly. You can easily put the Y connector on backwards and have no power.

 

I had a similar problem a year ago. I thought it had to be this, then that, then since that didn't work it must be this. Nope, figured it out when I bumped the fuse box with my leg. The fuse for the ignition was not blown, BUT the little metal clips inside the fuse box were loosened. All I needed to do was pull the cover off of the fuse box and squeeze the clip with needle nose. Spent a butt load of money to fix it when it ended up being a $0 fix! ARGH!

 

is that the y looking thing that hooks to the solenoid?

Check for a bad PCM power diode. This will fire the PCM relay and also the pump relay.

 

got it! it was the the same deal the little metal clips that power the fuse was lose tightened it hit the key and fired off. thanks for all the help

Canacka, I cannot thank you enough for posting this. I had the exact same problem and was beginning to be so frustrated until I searched for help. You were absolutely correct. Fuse number 30 was loose and did not seat in the fuse jacket correctly. I corrected it with a piece of wire and BAM!! Started right up. .
