75' front 4x4 hub EXPLODED! Help!
Hi, so i get to work to day and notice that my front right warn hub is entirely gone!
The truck is a 75' f-100 300-6 4 speed 4x4 with a d44 up front, i think it probably hapened because i didn't clean out the hub after driving through a lake
Replacing the hub itself isn't really the problem, the problem is that the tip of the axle tube where the hub seals up to the axle tube is all bent out of shape. I was wondering if anyone has any good ideas for reshaping the housing so the hub will seal properly again (and hopefully not fill with water and blow up). I'm open to anything but i reeeeeaaaaly don't feel like replacing the whole axle
Thanks

I think you might be referring to the spindle... If so I suggest replacing; metal gets really brittle after bending back and forth plus getting it perfectly round will be tough. Its only like 5 more nuts extra once the hub is off. Piece of cake. I think most solid axle d44s have the same one but check. Hit up a junkyard for the new one.
Do you have drum brakes?

It might seem like it but no. You have to disassemble the hub. Once you get your spindle nuts out the drum/hub come right off. Your outer wheel bearing will come out as well. Basically set the back of your drum on the ground and whack each of your wheel studs with a 4# sledge hammer. One or two well placed blows will do it; you might buy some nuts to thread on the end before whacking to protect the threads. 1/2-13 threads I believe.
Basically put your drum on a new hub and your back in business. Your gonna want to check the hub to make sure the disc and drum hubs are the same. I dont think the drum types are as common as the discs. If they are the same this should be a cheap trip to the junk yard. If different hit me up. I will have some extra drum hubs in a couple weeks; currently switching mine to disc. One is yours for a bone and shipping.
I think the hubs are the same on both the drum and the disc brake setup. Not sure though.

Yea that old hubs long gone, i got a set of mile markers here though That all sounds good but i think your probably right saying it'll be tough to find a truck w/ drums, hopefully the hubs are the same, oh well either way a pretty straight forward solution, thanks for the help i'll let you know if i don't find a hub pretty quick here
