Windshield Washer Problem

Windshield Washer Problem
I've been having a strange issue with my window washer on my '89 F250. I just put in a new pump from LMC truck, since the old one was not working. I drained and cleaned out the fluid tank, though it wasn't really dirty at all. Then I installed the pump and refilled the tank. The pump seems to be working fine, I can hear it humming when the button is pressed, but nothing comes out the nozzle. I thought perhaps the nozzle was plugged up, so I disconnected the line and still nothing. I replaced the rubber line, thinking it might be clogged. Still nothing.
I removed the reservoir tank and put it up on top of the air cleaner to test. Water will easily run out when i hold the hose below the level of the reservoir, so there are no obstructions, but the pump has no effect even when pumping at the same water level as the reservoir.
Does the tank need to be airtight for the pump to work properly? There don't appear to be any cracks, but maybe the cap is not airtight? I'm thinking about buying a new reservoir but they run for $60. Maybe the motor is running backwards? The plug only goes in one way. Should I switch the fan blades around to the other side? Any help would be appreciated. The truck is about to go on a 3 week road trip so I am trying to get everything working properly.

winshield washer problem
I have a 1996 f-150 that I bought in 2000. The windshied washer had not worked since I have owned the truck. In December I checked the pump and it worked. I took it off the reservor and found the blade was missing. I took the resorvor off and found the blade on the strainer. I epoxied the blade on the pump shaft and it has been working fine ever since.
