New Here Dead Battery
Hello,
I bought a 1960 F100, It has been sitting for four years, the owner said it died and she parked it, I checked the battery and duh its dead, what is a good battery for the 223 straight six engine, I live in Alaska, so it get to be about 0 Degs sometimes.
Also I was wondering If I should give it a tune up, New Plus, wires, rebuild the Card ETC... What else should I do to try to get it running, I am planning on a oil change when I can get it out of the snow.
Thank You for your help
Tony

Empty the gas tank of all old fuel.In fact drain the fuel lines as well.Change the fuel filter. If a lot of dirt, rust, or other junk comes from the tank, remove the tank and take it to a good radiator shop for cleaning.
Throw a new Interstate battery in it,too.
By-the way, forgot to welcome you to FTE!

Welcome to the forum. Hope you enjoy your truck.
I wouldn't be surprised if you have to clean the carb as well. There really isn't much to rebuilding them actually. Just take your time and lay everything out neat and orderly. Take pics as you go to have a good reference as to where things were if you don't have any manuals. Which of course is the first thing you should get, a real shop maual for the truck. It can save you a lot of headaches! Makes good reading as well.

I talked to my Local Auto Parts store, They do not have a clue on a battery for this truck, so what are the requirments for the cranking Amps Etc....
After talking to a Parts Store in Anchorage Ak He said that a 1960 F100 should have a 51R, I went to Wal-Mart and that battery looked a little small, what szie battery should i put in it.
When I get a chance I will post Pictures of my truck.
