1997 7.3 won't start no fuel pressure

Hello and thanks for help ahead of time. I was driving my truck the other day and the power started going away until nothing and similar to running out of fuel.
most everything I have seen with the problem points to the injector control or the under valve cover connectors. I checked all the connections and they all look good. The fuel bowl where the filter is is full and cranking engine over there is no fuel pressure at all and I can hear the injectors clicking so I believe its the lift pump that has failed. Is there something else I might be missing that would cause no fuel pressure other than the mechanical pump failing?? It would make sense its that and not something electronic but the way the truck turns over is like no gas but fuel bowl is full just nothing leaving it.

How did you check the pressure ? Usually when you have no pressure it is the pump ....could be a tank issue as well , But just in case drain the bowl and see if it fills up .....

I used a rounded pin on the schrader valve and when pushing in on valve after cranking theres no spurt of fuel and holding valve open there is none coming out while cranking. And I wonder on these with the 2 stage mechanical pumps that they pull fuel from the tank and then pressurize it to the system pressure. But when it failed power just fell of until nothing but the fuel bowl was full so it was getting fuel up there, so I shall try that and drain it and see if it refills the bowl. Also isn't cranking it over with no fuel bad for the injectors??

Thanks for the help from the masses here but I got lucky and the problem was the fuel pump bolts worked loose and that is what caused the loss of pressure and truck is back up and running and again I thank all those that took time out of there busy day to help out
