Comparison to PWR Wagon 5.7 Hemi

Anyone know of a comparison between the F250 6.2 and the Power Wagon Hemi?? Have to say, the Pwr. Wag is an awesome truck. At least awesome looking.

I like the 1500 rams but as far as 2500s go, Rams would be last on my list gassers anyways. Appearance wise, they don't look anywhere near as stout as Fords or GM for that matter. I love the height of the Fords. Dodge just doesn't seem to compare. JMO. 1500, I would consider dodge, ford, gm and toyota. I really like the snub nose look of the toyotas and the outside door handles on the scab models. I don't much care for my ford interior door handles. It get's old after a while opening two doors all the time.

scab vs screw

as far as the Toyotas go, I like the looks of both the scab and the screw. But, the screw's cab is just too big. The rear seat reclines and slides forward. Its huge.
the Toyotas scab is just about right and the exterior door handles and normal opening rear doors are nice. Ford's scabs seem cramped. Dodges and Chevy's scabs are better.

13-16 I've read. So, comparable. Just a beast of a vehicle.

Keep in mind that Dodge's transmission gearing isn't the same as Ford's. Ford's Torqueshift is geared lower, so the final drive can be taller and still maintain a very low overall ratio.

Ford 6R140
1st 3.97:1
2nd 2.32:1
3rd 1.52:1
4th 1.15:1
5th 0.86:1
6th 0.67:1

Ram 66RFE
1st 3.231:1
2nd 1.837:1
3rd 1.410:1
4th 1.000:1
5th 0.816:1
6th 0.625:1

As an example, lets look at the first gear of each:
Ford: 3.97 first gear x 3.73 gearset = 14.8:1 final
Ram 3.231 first gear x 4.56 gearset = 14.73:1 final

So even with 4.56's for the Ram and 3.73's for the Ford, they're almost equal in first gear. They even both use the same transfer case (NV271) with the same gearing, so the Ram doesn't have any advantage in 4Lo either. Both end up being about 40:1.

So, basically, a Superduty with the optional 4.30's is geared way lower than a Power Wagon with 4.56's. A good thing to know if you're looking for the best ratio for off-roading.

Got to disagree about the heights of the ford verses dodge. My 2011 ford F-250 sags more in the rear than my 2004 dodge 2500 did.coobie

Loaded? Fordsare just a lot taller than copmetition. Makes me feel safe and you get used to being up tall. And, it's hard for other 's to see what's in the bed, like tools. They don't sag 1 inch with a 9'2 plow in front. But, the *** does sag when loaded. I wish mine had helper springs.

Comparison? Hmmm...I suppose what you are comparing. Whether it is towing / hauling or offroad climbing rocks.

The SD will dominate in the towing and hauling. However...we have NO chance when it comes to offroad. The e-locker in the SD helps...but we loose so much with articulation and front / rear lockers.

The Power Wagon is an awesome truck...for what it was built for...agreed.

biz is right on the money. I've been looking hard at buying a Power Wagon for some time now, but have decided to stick with my beater for now. Generally speaking, the Ford has more options, is cheaper, and will tow and haul more weight safely than the Dodge will. The Power Wagon is built for off-road capability and will shine there.

I still can't convince myself to buy a Dodge, even if the Power Wagon is cool.
