I have several speakers crackling on my 07 expedition and so today I started trouble shooting it. It looks like I have 3 speakers that are out completely. Anyone have the same experience?

Any easy fixes short of replacement?

 

I think once the speaker has gone its a good time to upgrade, I'm not 100% sure but i want to say these are probably 2ohm speakers, which i would recommend getting new ones. if you dont want to change the amp i would go with 2 ohms as well, if you dont mind spending some cash its a great time to upgrade.

 

Just for reference, here are the factory part #'s for the Audiophile setup.

Front Door Speakers -# 8L1Z-18808-B

Rear Door Speakers - # 7L1Z-18808-C

Tweeters (*order by color and side) - # 7L1Z-18808-AA*

Subwooofer (I believe this is the Woofer and Enclosure) -# 7L1Z-18C804-AA

Also, the speakers are 4ohm except the subwoofer which is 1.5ohm DVC.

The front speakers have built in crossovers that attach to the tweeter also.

I would replace them. I like the Infinity 5x7/6x8 Components and have them up front. I got them for around $100. I put Infinity 5x7/6x8 two ways in the back. They sound great. You have to mount the tweeter in the stock opening but other than that it's not that hard.

 

Did you replace the amplifier? or are you running the stock one? if so which one do u have?

 

No. I use the stock amp. I chose Infinity becuase they are the most efficient speakers out there. It gets plenty loud with the stock amp. That is not to say you couldn't replace the amp, just that I don't need too.

 

I guess I have to bite the bullet. Do you have a good vendor for the infiniti speakers?

Any other recommendations?

 

Crutchfield is a great place to look for the exact model, i tend to look on amazon from there to get the best price.

 

amazon for both. Components are $99 and two ways were around $60. Crutchfield is nice for the free connectors and info sheets but prices are much higher.
