1951 F! Vent Window and Door Glass Run

Reading some posts I find the vent window frame is not reproduced, but the glass is available. What is the best way to get the glass out of the frame without damaging it?

The best I can tell the door glass run is held at the bottom by rivets. Is this right? Pictures in the catalog (LMC) do not show any kind of fastening at the bottom of the run.

Is it better to get a repro division bar or have the original plated?

And the window lift channel. Better to get a new one or try to get the glass out of the original?

A small screw driver will persuade most of the glass to slip out of the frames. Use a little heat if necessary to get things a little slippery.

The door glass run has a tab that drops into a pocket. The rivets you feel are holding the tab to the run. Remove all the screws that hold the run to the door frame (in the window area - 4 to 5 of them) and lift up on the run. The tab should slip out of the pocket and release it.

I buy new division bars but mine are usually beat up when replaced. Your call.

I use the original window lift channel. That small screwdriver is what I use to remove all glass - push it between the glass and the channel and carefully lift up.

Also try soaking the glass frame in gasoline. It will help to soften the glue.

Hey - thanks for the info. I was about to drill the rivets out until I saw that there was no bottom fastner or anything in the parts catalog. I will probably buy new division bars as one of min is pretty rusty and pitted. I will try to salvage the lift channel. Thanks much. Bill

Like above, alittle heat gun action and some lube aid by a screw driver works fine. Buy new runs and such from classic haulers.

Can't find a post I was sent about the door glass run. I did not know what I was doing when I was taking the door apart and destroyed the door glass run. I was about to put up a post on what to do, and someone sent me a post to check out Classic Haulers parts. I did, they have it and I ordered their catalog. Thanks much. Bill
