Muffler sugestions

I have had a few exhausts. I always used glasspacks. had some cherry bombs and had some older glasspacks. they always sounded good, but after like 6 months they start to get loud. now im a fan of loud haha. but i recently rebuilt my exhuast and used the cheapo summit chambered flowmaster knockoffs. I used 2.5" piping from headers to the mufflers and 3" from mufflers out the back of the truck. Sounds really nice. No drone, has a good mellow DEEP tone. I couldnt be any happier with them.

Today's Magnaflow and Borla mufflers use a continuous wound fiberglass which does not break up and blow out. There is also these guys BAmufflers.com here is a huge write up on them: How a properly built exhaust system works
You get the clean sound of a packed muffler, without the glass blowing out. The outer case is practically 1/8" thick, the inner core is stainless, and like I said the packing is continuous wound so it is warrantied for life.
If you have time, read the write up. It's amazing how much power you can gain or lose by installing a simple muffler.

Previous to those I had Flowmaster 40s. Absolutely hated those mufflers. From 1994-2002 I had Dynomax straight-thru turbo tubes. Really raspy.

Summit has several, and i would like to order a set.
The sound of your truck sounds really good.

Pretty sure this is the muffler I'm using. I have fenderwell exit headers and the exhaust dumps before the rear tires.
Sounds awesome, but not too loud.

I always used cherry bombs. sounded good but they dont last long. Recently i rebuilt my exhaust. Headers into 2.5" piping and then i ran flowmaster mufflers. Then i used 3" out the pack and dumps past the back tires. Sounds really nice. BEST sound and tone in any exhaust ive had. At idle its pretty quiet and at a cruise it sounds nice. When it opens up has a nice deep tone and has a slight rasp that sounds great. WOT its pretty loud but sounds good. highway cruise is awesome its quiet. no drone at all. ive taken it on several long road trips and its great. After running the flowmasters i will never go back to a glasspack again.

For the price of one of those, i can buy two from summit and achieve the sound i want.
I have no doubt the Magnaflow will sound good, i just don't want to wrap a lot of money in a exhaust at the moment.
My other option is Flow master, they sound pretty decent, but price is leading to look for other options.
And I really want Borla, Ive been a fan of theirs for years, (prior experiance) but then again, price, its swaying me away.

I'm partial to the Flowmaster Regular 40 Series. My last two ford trucks had them and i suspect all my future ford trucks will as well. They muffle the sound well enough at idle to not be obnoxious and when i stomp the go pedal they are evident. I've got one for each side of the exhaust and a crossover pipe to balance the flow. Best of luck in your decision.

Check out the thrush welded muffler as stated before at summit racing. They are identical copies of the original 40 series flowmasters for half the cost unless you buy the center in/center out configuration, then it's like $65 for some reason.
I run them on my 390 and they sound pretty good. I plan on switching to the super 10 series though as I want it to be as loud (and still sound really good) as possible and for me, flowmasters do that. Check out the vids in my signature for the sound. If you go to my account some of the newer vids are in cab and you can here what it's like for the most part inside.

I'm trying to find a nice mellow tone.
I sent Bullitt390 a message, hopefully he'll chime in.
