2006 F150 FX4 Tire Size Question

Got a Quick question for y'all. I have a 06 FX4 with the 20in rim option and I need tires. When we bought it it had 275/55/20 pirelli Scorpions on it. Well the suck! I'm looking for a bigger tire. It does not have a lift or anything yet... I was wondering what is the biggest tire I can fit under this ol girl. I will have a lift eventually just dont have the cash now being 16. So what i'm wondering is what is the best size, and what brands. I do on road, off road, and mud with it so gotta figure that in. Thanks guys. Ron

I replaced my crappy perellis with a set of 275/60R20 Cooper AT3s. I was told that I could not go much taller without a leveling kit.

You can fit 33s with a leveling kit no problem. I have them on mine. I think you may even be able to squeeze on 35s, but you may have rubbing and will run into other potential problems.

My 275/55/20 Pirelli Scorpions are doing fine, I don't see nothing so bad about them? Got another set on hand in the basement I bought as new takes offs.

You can go to 305/50-20s for same diameter and wider tread though.

The Pirellis' I had lasted 64k, but they did not have good traction even when they were new.

For a non leveled truck with the factory 20s you have just a few options to go slightly bigger:
275/60/20
285/55/20
305/50/20 might rub due to the width.

Tires types are up to you. Too much depends on budget and personal preference. Michelin, BF Goodrich, Cooper, Nitto and Toyo would be a good place to start.

I could of fit my 285/65/18's with out the leveling kit which are basically 33's. With the kit you could get a bigger 33's under the truck easily.

I do love those BFGoodrich tires, best looking, and classic, and they perform well. If I hadn't gotton the killer deal on the take off Perillis, I'ld have maybe gone BFG. But for my uses, if snow get''s bad and I simply have to go .... I'll take the '77.

you do realize your truck came from the factory with 32" tires (well, 31.6" tall...but close enough)

a 33" tall tire will fit a 4x2/4x4 F-150 with bone stock suspension

I'd recommend a 275/60/20 tire. That's 33" tall, and it fills the wheel wells nicely. I'm running it right now in my Expy

+1 on what Tylus said. I have used the 275/60-R20 in a Good year Silent Armor and Michelin LTX A/T2 (now) and like them both. I have not heard any of the tires GrizzlyMan660 mention except the BFG A/T, which I also considered (just cost more).

Does anyone have a picture of a truck that is leveled and running 35s? I'm going to put my leveling kit on this week, but I'm not sure if I want 33s or 35s.
