5 Star - 91 Perf/Tow, Airraid CAI and a Magnaflow muffler. Hooks up at 30mph right after the 1-2 shift. Click and enjoy

Did you do all the mods at once or at different times? The vid is nice, but please share your thoughts as well.

I tow with the 93 octane now after using the 87 tune. I like it a lot and have no intention of switching back. I only use my truck to tow (22,450 GCW) or haul stuff not a daily driver. The 87 tune did more for the transmission then adding power.

I should have prefaced this by saying that I got my tuner from Mike a couple of years ago. Just now got around to posting a video

Onug - I did not do all the mods at once. They went in 1. Muffler 2. CAI 3. 5 Star. The 5 Star tune was by far the most important part. Not even close. Muffler - could sometimes convince myself there was an ever so slight difference. CAI - could tell a very minor difference. 5 Star - Night and Day. Important thing is to let Mike know what all your mods are so he can load the right tune into the SCT for you. I really like the combo of mods I have right now and don't feel the need to add anything more. The truck makes all the power I need for what I tow (6500lb bumper pull travel trailer). I am very pleased with this truck.

WestxSRT10 - I tow with the 91 Perf/Tow all the time and have done so for a couple years now. We take multiple trips each year up to the Mountains and back (both Colorado and New Mexico). I wouldn't tow without the tune loaded up and I carry 2x 5gal tanks of 91 fuel in the back just in case we get down the road and I can't find a station with 91 in it. Worse comes to worse, I load up the 87 oct tune and continue down the road. Power and mileage are both better with the 91 tune. Power and trans behavior are both much better leading to a better towing experience which also leads to a happier wife sitting next to me. I have crossed many Colorado passes with my trailer in tow and never dropped below 50-55mph. I also live in West Texas.

I have an '08 and also have Mike's 5 Star, Magnaflow/resinator delete, Airaid intake, but I am using his 89 tow/performance tune and it rocks. I also have the 91 performance tune but haven't tried it yet. I can't imagine more power than I already have. Smokes tires.

Nice. I really can't wait to get my 3v now. Looked at one today, hopefully it will be in the driveway Monday. Mike is great to deal with. I emailed him today about getting new tunes if I get the new truck. No problem!

I just loaded-up the 91 octane tow tune and will try it out next week on a 2000mi trip. (1000mi. in tow + 1000mi. non tow). I have kept records on this same trip with the 87 econ. tow tune so I'll post-up the results of this up coming trip.
Thanks for the feedback guys!

Completed the 2000mi round trip again with the 91 tow tune and here are the results.

87 tow tune loaded w/9000lbs.....8.6 mpg
91 tow tune " " .....8.5 mpg

87 tow tune (unloaded)..............13.5 mpg
91 tow tune (unloaded)..............13.5 mpg

I did notice more power going up the Cajon pass towing my 5th wheel with the 91 tow tune. It climbed it at 3200 rpm in 4 gear @ 60 mph.
I'm happy with the 87 tow tune, for me the 91 tune didnt make much differiance to justify the extra cost of 20 cents+ per-gallon.

That is interesting - I get up to 9.5mpg with the 91 tow vs. 8-8.5mpg with the 87. Hand calcs bear out the difference. I wonder if it has something to do with the variance in the loads we are pulling along with the different frontal area and aerodynamic profile of a 5'er vs. a small bumper pull? Your results have me curious now!
