Not too many posts on our little slice of the forum! so I'll add a one. Just finished the metal work (still learning how to weld/stitch) on my cab and got a coat of epoxy on it.

I have always put the filler on bare metal (not that I've done much) but was assured you can put it over the epoxy. So we will see, thats my next step for the cab. Got to come out of the garage for a couple of days. Going to spend a little Christmas time with the family. But on Monday I'll get after it. Filler, sanding, sanding Primer more sanding and sanding. Woohoo!

Thanks guys! But I did chicken out on the bondo over epoxy. I ground it of where I needed to put filler, it just didn't feel right

Dave thanks for the link. It is basically saying what I was told at the paint shop. I was all set to go for it. Then when I read the back of the filler can it stated clean rough metal with no mention of primer. so I chicken out!

 

There was another thread on that forum (I couldn't find it right now), that said you could put filler over the SPI epoxy primer if you wanted to. As long as you sprayed the epoxy primer over the filler to seal it when you were done with it.

I have been using the SPI products on my project and like them very much. They are of a high quality with a very reasonable price. And the forum is full of very knowledgeable people, much like here.
