Changed fuel filter, now wont start

2002 E-250 with the 4.6 V-6. Pulled the 30 amp fuse, replaced the fuel filter, replaced the fuse, now the truck wont start. Checked the fuse and the kill switch under the passenger kick cover, all ok. Cranks and cranks but wont fire. No problem prior to changing the filter. Even swithed out the relay with another, no luck. Any ideas??

Pull a plug and look at the tip.... is it wet? If not it ain't getting fuel. If dry, pull that filter and have someone crank it over to see if fuel comes out the hose..... if not, check fuel pump fuse (s).

I put my ear against the tank with the key in the on position and hear nothing. Normally you'd hear the hum of the pump. This has me pulling out what little hair I have left. All I did was replace the filter with no problems prior. I'm wondering if the socket the fuse goes into isn't making a connection. When I turn the key on shouldn't the relay in the under hood fuse box click??? I even swapped out relays since they are all the same and nothing

Inline filter? Usually have an arrow on them for direction of fuel flow, though not sure what effect this would have putting on backwards. They put it on there for a reason.

The filter arrow is facing the engine, we took it off and turned the key, nothing. The fuse is fine. The reset under the kick place is fine but no voltage getting to the leads? In the engine fuse box there is an empty fuse socket that the book says should have a 60amp PCM fuse in it. The fuse was never there. My son mentioned that when he was putting the fuel pump fuse back in he mistakenly put it in that slot for a second before moving it to the fuel pump slot. Could ths be the issue? I have a feeling theres no spart either cause I used starting fluid and nothing. Now I'm thinking putting the fuse in that slot may have caused a problem. No fuel pump, no spark, I will confirm the no spark but I'm 90% sure there is non. I need to get back to work asap this truck being down is killing me
