Good truck but a few complaints

Picked up my truck in September of 2010. I've put about 12000 miles on it since then. It pulls my TT really well, rides nice, and is very comfortable. I do have some complaints though:
  1. Towing and city gas mileage sucks - 8.5MPG (US) towing and 12 in the city. Otherwise I get about 16.5 on the highway.
  2. Cheap plastic: It didn't take long for my tail gate cap to pop off and one corner of the rear bumper cap.
  3. Tiny rubber stoppers under the center consol lid fell off, and now it rattles.
  4. Weather stripping at bottom of the doors. They are held on with plastic push clips. The heads aren't big enough and have pulled through. Flimsy set up
  5. I have a crew cab and there is an opening at the bottom where the 2 doors meet (underneath). There's nothing from stopping the snow, slush, mud from accumulating in there. Seems like a perfect spot for rust to take hold.

I know what you mean about salt/sand between the doors. my super cab does the same thing.(seems like a bad idea) As far as the mileage goes...what did you expect?

obviously my mileage expectations weren't realistic. I was hoping for 15 towing and 20+ highway.

Hard pressed getting that with even a 1/2 ton gas engine.

As for the bottom of the doors, yes this is a bad design. When driving in slushy freezing conditions it can jam in there and freeze. The bottom of the chassis needs to be changed to prevent wheel spray from going up between the door and the chassis. I preferred the plastic Lariat running boards to my polished aluminum ones just for that reason. It keeps the bottom of the doors clean and doesn't rust. When these metal bars rust I am going to order a set of the plastic platforms like my 09 had. Might not be as shinny, but they are very functional.

What kind of truck?

What is odd, is I clicked on the link 'truck' thinking it might tell me, but it took me to a chevrolet site advertising chevrolet, I thought this was a Ford forum.

I never seen any truck link. Unless it is being blocked by my spam and phishing filters.

Was or is? It is not a link for me so if you are seeing a link my system is blocking it as spam or phishing.

It could also be and advertising thing. I am a supporter of FTE and you are not so you will see advertising that I do not see.

I just logged out and that is what it is. It is just advertisements on the site that paying members do not see.

15 city/20+ highway, Sweet Jesus....

If the numbers were that good, Ford would publish them on the window sticker even though they aren't required to, LOL.

The diesel guys don't do that good either. I know as I just got rid of mine as well as the headaches that went with it.
