Oil for 2011 F250 6.7 diesel
Can I use Delo 400LE 15w-40 in my new 2011 F250 6.7 diesel? OEM is Motocraft 10w-30. The delo says it is CJ-4/SM. Which ford recommends. I used to use it in my 2000 - 7.3 and my 2005 - 6.0 and had no problems. Just wanted to make sure this new 2011 - 6.7 does not need only a specific OEM oil. Any info would be great Thanks

It certainly can. I would suggest getting that stuff out of there ASAP before it damages any of the expen$ive emissions components or the engine itself.

I agree. If it were my truck, I would do an oil change, run it a little, then do another. Probably overkill, but I'd pay the $50 for oil & filter just to be safe.

Most important requirement is using a oil with an API CJ-4 rating.

I agree with the CI-4+ vs CJ4, but Shade Tree Mech said he used Castrol Edge 10w30 which is most likely a API SN rated oil for gas engines. This type of oil (SN) has lower levels of ash than the CJ-4 hence the reason I don't believe it will harm the emissions equipment. Having said this Shade Tree Mech needs to drain his oil/replace filter with API CJ4 oil asap.
