im looking for the saddle tanks that go inbetwwen the bedsides and the frame rails. the spout goes up throught the bed floor and out the side of the truck. if anyone has a ny info on this please reply. i would like to buy them if you had some. thanks

 

You don't want these tanks as they explode worse than Pintos in an accident as Chebbies were just the same. Get tanks that sit inside the frame as these are much safer in an accident.

 

Ford never offered saddle tanks for any year truck. What you are looking for was only available from aftermarket fuel tank supplier/installers.

1967/72 F100/350 Stylesides were available with an optional 25 gallon auxillary fuel tank.

This fuel tank mounts on the inside of the left (drivers) side frame rail.

1967/69: The fuel cap pokes thru the quarter panel (bedside) above the scallop (bumpside) line, in front of the left rear wheel.

1970/72: The fuel cap pokes thru the quarter panel below the scallop line, in front of the left rear wheel.

Inside the bed, butted up to the left quarter panel is a shield that protects the filler tube from possible cargo damage.

On the floor, adjacent to the drivers side of the seat, is a manually operated fuel tank selector valve, switches the auxillary tank to the in-cab tank and vice versa.

To the left of the steering column, mounted to a bracket that bolts to the bottom of the dash is a switch that changes the dash fuel gauge from one tank to the other.

btw: Most "gypo" (aftermarket) saddle tanks I've seen on these trucks have the fuel caps behind aluminum doors that are riveted to the quarter panels.

Here on the west coast, the Fey Bumper Co. was the major supplier/installer of saddle tanks.

 

I know they are a dealer option. But I just want them. And then maybe take out my tank behind the seat. I will post pictures soon if anyone could post pictures of their auxiliary tanks or other types that would be great. Thanks

 

I have two 20 gallon saddle tanks, definitely aftermarket, dealer installed???, the filler necks exit into the rear wheel wells, they're mounted between frame and body, they look like the tank below though mine do not straddle the frame like this one does.

 

Wow those are big tanks. That's what mine are supposed to be like but not straddle the frame and they are bolted on with straps. Any more pictures?
