How to reset the computer on a 2005 F-250 w/ 6.0L Diesel
Hello, i got a 2005 F-250 with a 6.0L diesel and i would like to reset the computer in it if possible. I had a SCT tuner in it and just wondering since i returned the computer to stock and am getting rid of the chip, is there any way of reseting the computer to get a better chance of not leaving a fingerprint of a chip??? I unhooked both batteries both + and - and i will let it set for a couple hours. Anything else to try?? I was told that my tuner would not leave a fingerprint but i just dont want to chance it. Thanks!

You don't chip the 6.0L...you "tune it" with software flashes. Now if the truck was tuned...unless you've replaced it with something; I think it will keep that tune even after unhooking the batteries. Not 100% sure since I'm running a stock tuned truck.

And if it had a SCT tuner on it he needs to reload the stock program. Disconnecting the battery will not return it to stock. It will only go back to "tuned defaults". Looking at your post again it says you returned it to stock. That is about the best YOU can do. Like stated earlier if they want to look they can find. Wait until insurance companies start LOOKING into our vehicle computers all the time.

You should start a NEW thread with more info. It could be a number of things though. Does you gages, radio and power windows ever stop working while you are driving?
