I am trying to replace a printed circuit board on a 1976 F150's instrument cluster. The one I took off has the instrument voltage regulator attached to it. Do you know how to remove it so it can be reused on the new circuit?

 

The regulator is held on to the instrument cluster by one small hex screw. With it loose, gently pull off the section of the printed circuit that attaches to the regulator. It attaches to the printed circuit just like a 9-volt battery.

 

Duh!! I should have waited till I got the new circuit board before I posted a rookie question! Thanks alot for the reply.
Here's another one: I have it all together now, replaced bulbs and sockets, but the ammeter gauge still is not working. Is there a way to test the gauge itself? Do they go bad? All the others are original and work fine. Is it a wiring issue and if so how should I proceed?

 

The factory ammeter is notorious for not working even when they were new! It was so bad that Ford had to issue a service bulletin on the subject.
It's not a wiring or mechanical issue, it's just a bad design.
The ammeter moves very, very little even when its working properly.
BTW welcome to FTE, a lot of good knowledgeable people here.

 

Mike, Thanks alot for your reply. I would not have quessed that. I'll just check the battery to be sure the charging system is working.
