Do yourself a big favor and go buy a code reader. You can get a decent one for about 60 bucks at someplace like Sears. That's about 1/2 hr. labor at your local Ford Stealership. You will use it again after this, I guarantee it. Then you go online and research your codes, fix the problem(s), erase the codes and you're back truckin with a smile of satisfaction on your mug!

Welcome to FTE.
Did you pay for the code reading that the service people would not give you all of the results?
If you paid for the reading you should have received all of the codes.
Take your vehicle to a local parts store and have the codes read and printed out.
This is a free service at my local Advance Auto, O'reilly's and Auto Zone stores.
I would have Advance print out the results for later reference.
Get all of the codes and then check them against the list here Ford OBD-II Trouble Codes

My Superchips 1715 programmer reads codes so I use it for my vehicles.

codes that came up

i borrowed a code retriever and the codes were
1) P0022 camshaft postion acttuator A Bank 2 timing over -retard
2)P0171 Bank 1 system too lean
3)P0300 random/multiple cylinder misfire
4)P0305 cylinder 5 misfire
5)P0306 cyl 6 misfire
6)P0307 cyl 7 misfire
7)P0308 cyl 8 misfire
8)P0316 misfire detected 1st 1000 revs
9)P2195 O2 sensor stuck lean bank 1 sensor 1
10)P2198 O2 sensor stuck rich bank 2 sensor 1

anyone know if this is just all cause of the mis fire in 5 6 7 8? think if i just chang the coils it will work or should i change all 4 plugs too?

It sounds like the cam actuator on the left side bank went out. 5, 6, 7 and 8 are the left side cylinders on Fords.

Miss fire

You might want to check for coolant in cyl 5,6,7,8 i just had this problem with my 2000 mustang. try checkin all the obvious thing first.Because if you are getting just a little coolant will cause it to missfire.

after many hour on the internet tring to find out what was wrong i decided to change the VCT(variable cam timing solenoid) but ford calls it EVT (enginevariable timing solenoid). took about a have hour to get it off and 40 min to drive to ford to make sure they had the right part i got it. truck runs good all codes are cleared and none popped back up after driving it. just want to say thanks for all the input you all gave me and this site rocks....Ford On!!!!!!
