can it be done? Gathering parts and info for this swap into my '59 and would like to retain my stock wheels.

 

Anyone? I just did some quick and dirty measurement today and it looks like there isn't enough diameter there to work with. Anyone tried it?

Also thinking about wheel adapters, but the narrowest I've found and feel comfortable with are about 1" thick so I don't know if that's the way to go either.

looks like the stock rims are 6" wide and have a 4" back spacing and the Jag rims are 7" wide and have a 5" back spacing. I'm having a hard time visualizing what that would all mean as far as track width and all.

 

I don't know anything about re drilling the hubs, but here are my thoughts on the jag
wheels vs. stock wheels.

Four inches of back spacing with six inch width means the wheel protrudes two inches toward the outside.
5 inches of back spacing with 7 inch width means the wheel protrudes
two inches toward the outside. So you see it will look the same as stock provided the
hub to hub distance is the same on the stock axel and the jag IFS. the question is will the
one inch of extra backspacing cause any problems with the frame or fender well, or
steering?

I would take one of the jag hubs to a machine shop and let them tell you if it can be
drilled. If it were me I would rather keep the stock wheels too.

looks like there isn't enough room to go to the 5.5 bolt circle on the Jag hubs. I'll be redrilling the rear to the 4.75 circle and buying all new rims eventually. Today I went to the u-pull-it yard and grabbed two jag steel rims that I can paint to match my stockers for the time being.
