6.0 white smoke loss of power rough idle need help
i have an 05 f250 started running rough when the motor is cold starts up ok idles rough spits a little white smoke i let it warm up for bout 15 minutes then take off it blows white smoke and has no power for 2 or 3 miles then everything clears up and it runs fine can anyone help me out here
I have the exact same issue on my 05 Excursion. I had local dealer check the FICM and they said it was up to date and there were engine codes being thrown.
No I didn't. I've been driving it anyway. It's a third car for me so I don't drive it much. Runs fine when warm. I'm going to take it back to the dealer and leave it overnight so the tech can see how it runs cold and then diagnose it from there.
Have yall did the EGR delete ? Pull the EGR sensor and see if it is gumed up. If it is, clean with spray brake cleaner. See if it runs any better. Then let us know

You shouldn't use brake cleaner, Carb cleaner in the intake system.
It is on top of the engine, close to the front. It will be the first sensor you see. About three inches tall and about two inches round. It has a plug in the top. It takes about five min to get out.
Now that's my kind of work! If it gets much more than that then I'm in trouble! I race cars for fun and I'm a joke in the garage. Change pads and rotors and that's about it. Anything more technical than that and I have to make a call for help.
dont have the egr delete that i no of only had the truck a couple months just bought it it has 144000 miles wasnt looking to spend big money getting it fixed already but injectors egr delete or ficm all seem like they are going to be expensive
Brake cleaner will clean it better. The gum is hard to get of. Let it dry before you put it back on. Will dry in about ten sec.
The reason Ford says "No Brake Cleaner" is that brake cleaner fluid is not compatible with the EGR valve seals. Even if you are careful and don't get it in the weep holes, the solvent can wick up the shaft and potentially soften the shaft seals. Carb cleaner works well enough and it is adviseable to use it over brake cleaner.
