Unhappy climate control system problems

My 2005 F250 King Ranch, 4wd, 4 door heat and air system has quit. It occasionally has quit before but always came back on after a few stops and restarts. It has gone off now and does not seem to be going to start back up. What happens is it is working fine when I stop and shut the truck off, then the next time I get in and start it the heat and air does not come on. I checked with the Ford garage and they said the trucks computer will probably have to be replaced as that was a problem with the King Ranch. Anyone have any other ideas?? Thanks, Jim

Mine went out the same way on my '05 Lariat. They had to replace the head unit for the HVAC controls. I think it was about ~$400.

This is more likely then the "computer" or PCM.

Well, just like before I got in and started the truck and it is now working again. Last time it worked for over 6 months before it quit. Ford said that if it is working now they can not fix it, must be broken when I come in. Frustrating.

I had the same situation with mine. Intermittent failures and then I got in one morning and it wasn't working. I drove straight to the dealership, blew the horn, and when the door opened, I drove right in. I pulled it into the garage, left it running, got the Service Manager, and he ordered it right then. I got the same story though.....couldn't do anything until it actually stopped working. I believe it has more to do with Ford tightening their belts when it comes to warranty replacements, than anything else.
