Whats a good exhaust set up for me?
I am looking to put a new exhaust and headers on my truck. It's an 88 f250, 351w, 5 speed, regular cab, 8 ft bed. I dont have much expierience with exhaust work. If you guys have any setups that sound good let me know. I dont have access to any tube benders or anything like that but i have a welder and basic tools that are needed.

what 86F150302 said. however i would do a true dual exhaust setup instead of Y pipe. my '94 f150 4x4 has a true dual exhaust so it is possible on these trucks even with 4x4. runs two 2.5 inch pipes, starts on each side of the motor, runs down the right side of the truck, through a Magnaflow muffler which is the one you should get. the muffler is dual port not dual and then single. and then they split up and run through the back. good stuff! also, if you live in a city that dosent perform smog checks then take off the catalytic converter. itll make the truck sound better and increase power a little bit.

that is my F-150's 351W on the magnaflow dual exhaust setup. i dont have a catalytic converter on however so if you have one on it will be quieter.
also i dont have headers so youll get a more raspy race like sound with them.

no idea. previous owner did it back in '03. im guessing he had it custom fit with a magnaflow muffler because i looked on magnaflow's site and all of their offerings for our trucks are single pipe. go by your local 4x4/muffler place they might have a dual exhaust offering without custom piping.

I have been kicking the same thing around on my 92, I am thinking of going with the self kit my magna-flow. I am getting it online I think. here the kit is in at 350 and on line I can do it for about 275 delivered from Seattle.

What kit is that because the kit i looked at is $600 without a muffler. If you could give me the part number that would help.

Thought I might piggy back before I started my own thread. I just had duals put on mine because EVERYTHING except the manifolds were rusted. I just realized the guy torched something off. A little metal thing that attaches to a rubber hose that runs up to the engine. Any idea what this is? Should I reattach it?Also I cannot find my O2 sensor anywhere and I want to put it back in. Where should I look for the O2 harness? I have crawled underneath and looked all over the engine bay and I see sqaut?
Second the Magnaflows though. They sound great!

did a quick google search and it looks like the o2 sensor is in front of the catalytic converter.

1987-1990 Ford F150 Oxygen Sensor - Fuel Injection - NTK 87-90 F150 Oxygen Sensor - 5299-01146332 - PartsGeek this is what it looks like.
Ive actually seen something like that on my 1994. for me it was on the exhaust pipe, not too far behind the exhaust manifold.
