1st Oil Change Pics added

Hello..Did my first oil change on my 2011 Lariat Limited. Did this at 1,994 miles.
I know they say you don't need to do the first oil change so soon, but i'm old school that way.
Read a lot of posts here about how tight the filter was put on from the factory, and also how Ford Engineers should have to do their own oil changes for 5 years.
One post recommended the 3 jaw Craftsman oil filter wrench..47064...I found it to be part #028-20523..
Well I will say that is a nice filter wrench, and I did not find the filter to be over-tight...the engineers even put a plastic drip tray under the side mounted oil filter ( when loosened ) to direct the oil directly into your oil pan...Very Nice...never seen that before..
Used exactly 7Qts to top fill mark...
Over-all...a very easy...and clean oil change...
Just wanted to report on my experience...Thanks...Tom

We need a picture or three of that drip
tray tbar. Don't have one on my 2011. Seen them on
the Asian cars though...
Good luck with the new 2011.

I don't have one of those drip trays either. Had one on my Jeep and it was nice, you know where to put the pan and keeps everything very clean.

Hi guys...took some pics as requested...kind of difficult pictures
to take..hope you can make heads or tails of these...this is of
the drip tray factory installed on my 2011 Lariat Limited 6.2L
the first and last picture are the most clear...the two in the middle got turned 90*
making them harder to look at and put in perspective...
Thanks...Tom

Thanks for the photos tbar. Guess things under the
motor changed some. My filter hangs straight down
and when changing, oil pours out every which way when the
filter is removed. No drip tray either.
Enjoy the new rig sir...

Mine is straight up and down too. I just use the filter punch trick to drain the oil from the filter first the take it off without a mess.

I think the OP has a F-150, may be a different setup under the truck than the SD's

You are correct sir..2011 Lariat Limited F150..understand the confusion
now..6.2L only offered in F150's...Lariat, Raptor, Harley...
Most people here F250 or larger....
Love the growl, power of the 6.2L Beast...Tom

Just punch a hole into the filter and let drain before removal?
