When you say it has fuel, does the fuel pump run when you first turn the key on?

Check for fuel pressure at rail by depressing the schrader valve at FPR........No spray, no fuel press., no run.

Yes it was running, I drove it around the block and it sputtered and died. Fuel guage read empty so I thought it was out of fuel. It started once and ran very rough. Tank now at 1/4 full so I replaced filters ( in-line and canister) because I thought they were plugged. I unplugged the inertia switch to relieve the fuel pressure in lines and it tried to start. After replacing filters still won't start. It has plenty of fuel pressure. rotated engine to tdc and rotor appears to be in correct place.

The inertia switch has to be hooked up for the fuel pump to turn on, Or you can cut the 2 wires and twist them together to complete the secret. And also check ALL of your fuse, Do that and get back to use, I was haven the same problem with my truck and i found out the inertia switch wire was grounding out

Did u check ALL fuses, because if the inertia switch went bad it would have blown a little fuse in the fuse box under the hood, welll thats were it was on my ranger, but check alll of the fuses

I have an 87 2.9L and am having the exact same problem right now, I have no fuel pressure. Where is your fuse box under the hood? I cant find one anywhere. The truck ran fine yesterday other than my battery issues. I went to start it this morning and had no fuel pump sound and now no pressure. And what does the inertia switch look like?

You should see a black box of some sort, and the switch has a green and red wires goin to in and mine was gray with a red button and was under the glove box, check ur owners manual and it should say were it was, But if that did trip or fail it will blow a fuse so also look up were they are in the book

I figured out my problem... kind of ashamed to admit it lol, but it was just simply the crappy ground connector for the fuel pump right off the battery that got disconnected and then hid under everything else. Still don't know about my battery issues tho.
