Fekkin tough dog
Bought a adjustable panhard bar from 4wd1 in sydney in september,it FAILED on me wensdy (lovely nearly killed me) so i let 4WD1 know what happened and they replied too me saying that tough dog suspension dont warant their panhard bar for my application..
So i told them what i thought of their response and let them know that i had taken the panhard bar too a engineering shop and the guys jaw dropped when i told him what happened and showed him the panhard bar.
The guy @ tough dog was a smart **** from the word go so i had a feeling this was gunna go sth..
The wording on their web site says:to suit any type of suspension, printed a copy of this web page,JUST in case some slimy piece of filth decides too change the wording after i pointed this out in my email back to them.

I think their good name may have caused them a bit of suspicious arrogance here.
Tough Dog are one of the premier aftermarket suspension makers for the off-road market, and my Jeep Cherokee is full of their parts.
I can only assume that they thought, "it MUST be something HE did" and that's why they're being this way, however from what I've seen their stuff can handle, I'm suprised it broke.
In any case, it's just not good enough from a parts manufacturer whose equipment is supposed to be engineered, and the pic suggests there has been a crack in it for some time, (unless it broke a while ago)
They should at least have asked for it back to test it.

Bryan. With what I do with my Jeep they definately will.. lol
Keep trying aye.
Write a letter with pics and a receipt if possible and keep trying.
I bet that truck of yours hasn't been rock climbing so one should assume there was no abuse of the part.
They need to do something about this.

Judging by the poor penetration of the weld (note: it essentially sits like a roll of blue tack rather than what one is used to from a solid weld) on the end of that panhard rod, and the fact that it gave up the ghost so easily I'd say Tough Dog is just as lame as the rest of the so called 'high end' kit getting around. Perhaps, where they are manufactured, they should change their name to 'Tasty Dog'?
And if they aren't in fact currently made in Chinglish, shame shame shame on the quality assurance process. It's one thing if one of the shockies spews it's self all over your underside, it's entirely another when you panhard rod tries to insert it's self in YOUR underside.
Drop down to your local engineer / fabricator and get a real one made, it's not hard to do it properly eh..
Strewth out..

Can you get the threaded stub out?
If you can - replace it with a bit of heat treated stuff or stainless in a high grade
Of course the OTHER way to put it is:
"BY GOLLY! You have FOUND the WEAK POINT!!!"
(congratulations are in order...)
* Tears actually come to my eyes when I write stuff like this. (of laughter) Why didn't you fabricate your own? I certainly would after all of that mess...

Of course...
I AM curious about the rust around the break though.
Can you find what materials were used to make it?
I'd get a higher strength clevis and move on - get a higher strength joint for the end.
After all - anything mass produced is subject to what I think of as:
"IT AIN'T MINE" syndrome

GULP .. GULP
G'day Bryan,
Have you had any further reports on this failure?
I put one of these on a couple of months ago during my suspension change; so far so good.
I've just done a big trip through the Flinders Ranges pulling a 3.5T dirt roader. Touch wood ... no dramas.
However seeing what happened to you doesn't boost the confidence is this product.
I just may cut my loss and change it for a better one.
Any suggestions?
Cheers,
Reg

I was going to see my solictor and take it further, but i figure the negative advertising on the rear of my Ftruck will be far more destructive too them than them replacing the panhard bar and my shocker, their attitude stinks..
Im a member of 4x4 Earth Australia for 4WD Tracks and 1 bloke bought a lift kit of crapdog, now he calls them roughdog LOL.
So anyway mate i welded mine each end (doulbe fillet weld each end) and its been fine since,so if it worries you, just run some weld right around between the thread and the bush or take it too a engineering shop and get them too weld it up for you..
